The article today is pretty simple. Warnerstock High School has been renamed. To what, you may be asking, has it been changed? The concept of change in of itself, as the only remaining school still so noticeably named after the company that operates it, isn’t so bad. Could this be a sign of changing times?
However, as you can tell by the article title, the recent uproar has not been caused by the idea of change, but by who the high school has been renamed after.
Yes, after shelving several shows and movies for the purposes of a tax write-off, revoking toons opportunity to get the one benefit anyone is really after (fame), current Warner-Discovery CEO David Zaslav has taken it upon himself to name one of the longest standing high schools in Toontown after, well, himself.
Many parents are promising to unenroll their students and move to ACME high, which recently underwent reconstruction. We’ve actually secured an interview with a current, anonymous Zaslav High School student to get their experience and opinion on the matter.
Toons Against TV can’t help but find the irony of a man who doesn’t care one bit about the toons whose lives he holds in his hands, but demands respect and appreciation from each and every one of them.
David Zaslav doesn’t deserve your respect. He doesn’t deserve anyone’s respect, but he’s not unique. Every single media company executive thinks the way he does about us, but they seem to be smart enough to not state it and act on it so openly.
It’s time to get rid of the power they have over our lives.
